Job Title - Smart Building Solutions Designer

Location - London Zones 1-2

Salary - Up to £60,000

We are seeking a Smart Building Solutions Designer to join a high-performing pre-sales and pre-construction team, delivering innovative, multi-technology solutions across complex projects.

This role is ideal for a commercially aware and technically strong professional with experience in design, estimating and tendering smart building solutions across sectors such as enterprise, data centres, residential and hospitality.

The Role

You will take ownership of opportunities from initial enquiry through to bid submission and pre-construction, leading the design, costing and proposal development of integrated smart building solutions.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and clients, you will ensure solutions are technically robust, commercially viable and aligned with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Sales & Bid Management

• Lead and manage opportunities throughout the full bid lifecycle
• Produce high-quality technical and commercial proposals
• Interpret tender documentation and develop compliant solutions
• Present solutions to clients, including technical and commercial presentations
• Attend client meetings, site surveys and bid reviews

Design & Technical Delivery

• Design integrated smart building systems across multiple technologies
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, client specifications and best practice
• Produce and manage technical documentation and design outputs
• Support post-award pre-construction design and technical delivery

Commercial & Costing

• Develop detailed cost models and estimates (labour, materials, services)
• Provide commercial input into bids and project feasibility
• Analyse risks and opportunities within tender submissions

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Work cross-functionally with sales, operations, delivery and procurement teams
• Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers and technology partners
• Ensure smooth handover to delivery teams post-award

Technology Exposure

You will work across a full smart building ecosystem, including:

• Master Systems Integration (MSI) / Smart Platforms
• IoT & Smart Building Monitoring
• Structured Cabling (Copper & Fibre)
• Networking (LAN, WiFi, Voice, Mobile)
• Electronic Security (CCTV, Access Control, Intruder, Intercom)
• Audio Visual (VC, IPTV, Digital Signage, Background Audio)

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Proven experience in smart building design, estimation and pre-sales
• Strong understanding of multi-technology solutions within construction environments
• Experience producing cost models and tender submissions
• Commercial awareness with the ability to interpret and present financial data
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel)

Desirable:

• Experience across sectors such as data centres, commercial real estate or hospitality
• Knowledge of BIM, CAD, WiredScore / SmartScore
• Relevant manufacturer certifications or industry accreditations
• Degree-level education or equivalent experience
